You could probably just direct link to the image URL on Facebook, they don't seem to usually care

Okay well let's give it a try. Is this thing on?

Need to get a whole bunch of pictures up there, some Christmas shots, some dog park shots, and a bunch of sleeping shots.

I AM DONE WITH MY PHLEBOTOMY ROTATION. Thank the gods. Had this poor 88-something year old woman today who needed blood transfused. Neither I nor the more experienced phlebotomist could get anything out of her. I sit there and try, then the other person comes up and tries, nothing. Finally, the nurses talks to Medicare, and after 15 minutes of filling this poor old lady full of holes and getting nowhere, they tell us she's got an iv port established in her leg that we could have taken the blood out of ages ago. :flame:

If she needed a transfusion, doesn't that mean you are supposed to put blood in, not take it out?

Surely that would be an infusion?

Or maybe all she got was a.... confusion.

Oh, you two. When someone is going to get a transfusion, regulations require that they also get a blood type and a screening for any antibodies, even if they've been to the hospital before or we've got their blood type on record. Definitely don't want to give an O- person B+ blood for example, obviously, and you don't want them to have a reaction owing to any lesser-known antibodies they might have either. We also generally test them pre-transfusion to see what their hemoglobin and hematocrit levels look like, and then again sometime after, so we can see if the transfusion actually did any good.

Noooo..? Computer systems are a good backup, but it's not something you want to totally rely on when someone needs blood...

I appreciate a good phlebotemist. When I was in the hospital for the hear, they actually sank a PICC over anything else because they couldn't even get a damn IV going.

My last day at work is this Wednesday. Been on the rig for over 6 years.
Not really sure what I'll do if I can't get another job offshore, the oil industry here has tailed off considerably over the last few years, culminating in the current huge drop in oil prices to boot.
On the plus side, I'll be a new dad in 3 months and we got the keys to our brand new house.

Fuuuuck.

Skye! Welcome back.

Spent the entire Easter long weekend doing work in the house. Finished painting one room and so, so many more to do before we'll be done.

Hey, thanks!

We wanted the party and figured why not make it legal at the same time.
