I was going to head to the library and get the O'Reilly Powershell book to brush up - I use Powershell a fair amount on the job but I don't try to memorize it so I don't think I'm going to be able to cough it up usefully in an interview - but I moved an office today and I'm just fucking beat. On the plus side I'm happy with how the rack turned out, especially given the 5-to-1 panel-to-switch port ratio.

I got the job! I start the 15th.

Weird side effect of this is it feels like all the adrenaline has drained out of my body. I'm just exhausted 100% of the time. I'm starting to remember my dreams again.

Excellent stuff, will you not have so many dealings with customers lacking a clue?

Yeah, my customers will be 100% internal IT, either other sysadmins, or appdev (or maybe rarely networking but probably not since I won't be on the tool that monitors the network). I'll be writing server monitoring for CUNA, the bit national credit union thingy.

Hurrah, that's a result then.

I applied for a job two grades higher than my current post and got an interview, against my expectations. Now I have to do a presentation!

Welp, barring any odd complications or some lab rockstar walking in and offering to work for free, I think there's a pretty good chance I'm going to have a job in a week. :D :D

I almost got sent out on a job on Wednesday but my dear wife had the car so I couldn't go do a medical. More opportunities next week though. I can get some more painting done around the house. So sick of painting.

I saw those same xrays and I thought he should harden the fuck up.

But then I've never broken a bone before.

I went forty bloody years without breaking a bone then manage to fracture my shoulder last year and my foot this year. Hrm.

The worst bit is I'm missing three races due to it, a 10 miler this Sunday & two 10k races, though I'm tempted to do the second 10k as it'll be three weeks after the injury.

I've been hit by a car twice while biking and still never broken a bone. No idea what it's like but I bet it isn't good.

I totally hit a bicyclist with my car. Felt bad about it, even though it was his fault, right up until he sued me.

OH HEY so I have a job now! I was going to do the "Who has two thumbs and is gainfully employed?? THIS GIRL" thing, but my phone doesn't have a timer on it for the camera, so you all lost out there.

I've been pretty lucky with mine in terms of them being just fractures rather than outright break. If this had been a Lisfranc injury I'd not be doing anything. They hurt enough as it is, the dull ache you get in the area once it's healed sucks too. Although I learned that I'd rather have the pain than take fucking codeine as I'd rather poop, thanks.

New job! Working on a pipelaying barge in the Timor Sea. Possibly flying out Friday but I haven't heard more details yet.

Are you still a cook, or are you, er, laying pipe?
