I'm in a terrible mood, so Leonard Cohen.

There are a fuckbillion covers of that song - anyone have a favorite? I feel like the Jonathan Coulton version is the only one (at least that I've heard) that even scratches that feeling of... not feeling. Of being dead inside. Which is funny, because, you know, Jonathan Coulton.

Tori Amos also has a pretty good cover. It's not nearly as dead... it's more wistful. Tori's sad songs always feel like the death of childhood to me. A wistfulness, an acknowledgement of the state of overness. It's a different kind of sad.

HOW'S LIFE EVERYONE.

Lush - Hypocrite

I think it sounds a little bit like Heart. Or The Bangles.

Bastard Wants to Hit Me.

In other news, the new coworkers think indie rock is super weird.

All music should be promoted by way of a video of Flat Eric & William Fichtner playing chess.

Because I have been listening the fuck out of to this album. Although I'm not sure about this video.

This is the first album since Black Holes and Revelations where I'll listen to the whole thing multiple times in one sitting.

I had not actually heard of these guys prior to "We Are Young" being used in the Chevy Sonic commercial, and rapidly got sick of it. Might have to give them more of a try now...

I think the first four songs on this album (of which We Are Young is one) are fucking awesome. I will admit that some of the songs DO suffer from a criminal amount of autotune.

Look, it was either Fever Ray or Lou Reed's Perfect Day. I've made my bed..

Shut up.

By the by, no one is allowed to recommend The Avett Brothers except for me. It's in the bylaws. Misery-style Number 1 fan over here.

Youth Without Youth is starting to grow on me. Speed the Collapse is still a better song.

I like the video for Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks. It reminds me of the one for Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight from back in the '90s. Steampunky.

Utada Hikaru covering Green Day.

My phone broke, so now I have no music with me. :(

Picked up the album and I'm liking it quite a bit, but yeah, too much autotune. It should be a federal offense to overuse that when you sound that much like Freddie Mercury.
