Two KPOP songs with the same name released at the same time and both are pretty fun.

Sounds like a NIN/Aphex hybrid. Awesome.

New Spica is basically a love letter to 이효리, who incidentally looks quite good in drag.

I love that it includes the requisite Spica awkwardness, even though they're imitating someone who is known for being charismatic and composed.

New 가인 is holyshit physically painful to watch. I think she was going for Troublemaker, but holy shit did they overshoot that mark. Ended up with something that makes 2NE1's Go Away seem normal and relaxing by comparison.

Did you know Korean videos could be weird? This one cost over a million dollars to make! This one has cake.

First one was kinda odd, but didn't make my ears want to bleed. Also cute deer.
The second was just... bizarre. To the extent that I think it deliberately set out to tittilate the male audience. Also what was going on with the little red clad midget?

Twin Peaks reference? That's what we figured.

Here's something on the Dali references in the first one.

I think it's super weird that something we discovered a couple years ago seems to be suddenly becoming popular. I think it's odd that people went with Babymetal. I think it's good that Babymetal get to stick with it despite the eldest having graduated from Sakura Gakuin. I think it's sad and a little racist that Eastern things mostly get popular because they are "so weird". I think there are better Japanese bands, but I guess I'm glad they're getting coverage.

I also don't much care for Japanese idol groups. I have a friend who is very into Morning Musume who has tried pretty hard and it's just not my thing. Neither is technical metal, come to think of it.

Despite that I think they're very cute, and the instrumentalists are very talented. I hope it gives them a nice bump in sales, and I hope we hit some kind of break even point where Asian-Americans don't have to export themselves to Korea to get paid.

Have you seen World Order? They're headed by Genki Sudo, who was a pretty successful MMA fighter before he retired.

Or how about Kalafina? They are a pretty good Japanese band!

Or how about Utada Hikaru, who transformed the face of Japanese pop, and is also very good at Tetris? Or Asian Kung Fu Generation or Scandal or 고윤하 who is Korean but hit it in Japan long before she got popular in her home country, and it really shows in her sound.

There's a ton of good Japanese music out there! Just need to find it.

Just like for every 소녀니대 there's a or a 글렌체크 (and yes I cheated on that one). I don't know, you probably weren't looking for a rant, just something that's been on our mind.

I still like Mad Capsule Markets. They were hyped up back when as I recall.

In other news, the new 선미 song is pretty great. I didn't like the song at first, but it's really grown on me, mostly because of the beat I think. Also JYP and Brave Sound working together, what's next? Cats and dogs I'll bet.

First Aid.

Warning: Country, because apparently I can only like music that everyone ever is going to hate. :)

I don't consider that country, but even if it is, I like that song a lot. I know never to quote it though.

I refuse to watch that second link you posted though.

I have definitely quoted crazier lyrics. Have a bad habit of quoting Tool's Prison Sex at times that I think are funny, but no one else seems to get the joke.
