BACK FROM PAX!!!

Got to play some (as yet) unreleased games that were alternately meh and awesome.

Dragon Age: Inquisition. Waited 90 minutes in line for 30 minutes with the game and after the big disappointment that was Dragon Age 2, my cynicism was pretty high.
Xbox devkit on PC with controllers but it looked gorgeous. Started out doing a quest to wipe out some templars, party trailing behind and doing their own thing without being told what to do. Then I got curious and just walked in the opposite direction, found a random battle, went over a river, climbed a mountain, looked through a magic skull that uncovered 'shards' then spotted a bunch of fades around a portal thing and ran towards it, sword flailing.
I died. Then my view switched to my colleagues who were bravely running down the mountain behind me, although unable to get past a tree. Got them off the tree, ressed my main guy and then the demo was over.

The most impressive thing to me, having played the other games, was the lack of restrictive pathways. Despite that one hiccup, I was pretty damn impressed. Didn't get so much with the dialogue trees but that's fine.

EVOLVE: Stuck in line for about 90 minutes to play so I got to see others having a grand old time before it was our turn. I went Lazarus the medic, who seemed to do more sniping than healing. I did find it a little difficult to keep up with the team at some points but in the end we managed to track, trap and take down the monster, not without some casualties. One of the guys said the monster usually wins (in a first attempt) I guess because it doesn't have to rely on teamwork of people who haven't met before.
I figured TMCM would have a lot of interest in this game.

Also, World of Warships: Still in Alpha but looking and playing great.

We are playing Dragon Age: Inquisition this year for Fest. It's the first PC game, and first Western RPG that has been allowed.

Because wow, have you looked at the JRPG crop this year?

Yeah, looks cool. I'm surprised it's coming out so close to Bloodborne though.

Only 2 more days until I get home and can play games again! For two weeks, then it's back to the rig for 4 weeks. :-(

I preordered Dragon Age. Two nights back I got my Origin account hacked by some Russian douchebag. So hopefully I can get that rectified before the weekend.

My darling wife already bought me the two most recent Pokemon games. At least I can use the 3DS out there.

Talking of Pokémon, Sainsburys are selling the 2DS here for £80 including X or Y. Shame it's the 2DS really as I'm really tempted.

Please keep in mind during the holiday season the truly important things, like that Elite: Dangerous comes out tomorrow.

In fairness, we've been building 'ground zeros' near Iraqi mosques since March 2003.

I guess Dark Souls 3 is a thing I will have to spend money on.

A friend is making this pretty cool survival horror game where you can play as a blind girl! It has 7 days left in its Kickstarter, and $32k to go. Tell your friends!

Doubt it. That thing was (probably) the Giant Lord, one of the late game bosses of Dark Souls II.

My friend's Kickstarter succeeded, which is cool. He hasn't been working in the industry since Bioshock: Infinite. He was pretty angry at how the team was managed.

Packing for PAX Aus again!
Got some stuff to look forward to this year with plenty of game previews, some of them playable. One little hiccup this year, we have a 3-4 month old addition to the family who isn't afraid to start yelling when he's upset. Oh, and no prams or strollers allowed at PAX so we have to carry him everywhere. :-O

Backpack. Zip up everything but his head. Problem solved.
