Most of the 10+ people I knew in Atlanta are gay. Though I guess it's more of a bastion of gay against the rest of the state.

I'll be a cynic and say there will be states in the US that will never legalize gay marriage. I'd settle for them recognizing them from other states.
In fairness, we've been building 'ground zeros' near Iraqi mosques since March 2003.

At some point if they don't fall in line the federal gov't will step in. It may be slow to respond, and probably 25+ years too late, but they will.

In 25 years we'll be cycling back to more conservative not less. 50+ at least for a federal push. State to State it'll never be 100%

That's not how civil rights in the federal gov't works. It's not like all states were on board with the whole de-segregation thing.

aren't we saying the same thing? I'm saying we'll never get all 50 states aboard - the federal government will have to force the issue. you're saying of course all 50 states will be aboard, when the federal governmnt forces the issue.

Georgia was one of the few states that used their sodomy law to arrest people who like anal sex.

That was actually the subject of one of the famous supreme court cases! I wish I could remember the name. The cops had a warrant to search the guy's home for something, and they didn't find it, but they found him having gay sex, so they arrested him for sodomy. From that we got the whole "warrants only apply to one crime" thing.
