No it doesn't, and if I had based 'purchasing' it on either of those things, I would have shot myself immediately afterwards for being very, very stupid. The Angry Birds thing was what I thought was an obvious joke. I do mostly use it for reading; the internet functionality and apps are just icing on the proverbial cake, though the app selection is still extremely limited.
At any rate, I got it as a Christmas present. So I paid precisely nothing for it, and am perfectly pleased with it.

For myself, I haven't had any issues with reading for extended periods of time on an LCD; one would hope not with as much time as I spend on a computer already. As far as sunlight issues go, I can read it fine in moderate sunlight and generally don't go out of my way to read in really bright sunlight too often, so that's not an issue.
