Precious little news has trickled into MSM it seems, but already the death toll has been stimate at around 2000.
In fairness, we've been building 'ground zeros' near Iraqi mosques since March 2003.

The whole thing is pretty insane. It's hard to say what's actually going on, as reports seem to vary; but it's also hard to deny Georgian troops fleeing by the truckload from Gori, and it's easy to see Russia's increasingly speedy slide back into dictatorship and rampant nationalism.

It's been speculated that this could be the beginning of a Russian move to retake the caucuses. I'm not sure it will go that far, but on the other hand, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it did.
