I can't see any of the text of the messages, all the private messages are still in the database I just set all the ones that were flagged as "deleted" to "inbox". No idea who sent what, when it was sent anything like that.

And before I delete all my messages, does "mark all" select all the messages in the inbox or all the messages on that page of the inbox?

Mark All is for the one page. Delete Marked deletes those. And Delete All destroys EVERYTHING!

Didn't quite know where to put this.

I can't seem to duplicate the error... so I'm thinking either fluke db hiccup.

I tried searching for "suck*" grouped by posts, was there anything else you specified?

Just came in tonight and noticed the board was down with a sessions error. This might be just one of those things (I've been out all day, have no idea when the board died but I know it was okay at around 9:30 GMT this morning).

However, it might also be more serious. The forum software has just been upgraded to version 12 and there are some exploits in there that have been fixed. I hope we're not suffering from some kind of malicious code. I really don't have time to upgrade the forum AGAIN in the next few days, anyway.

I sometimes wonder about the true value of posting details of "fixed exploits". In that, doesn't it just give nasty fuckers new ideas of what they can break in the old version?

Anyway, apologies for the inconvinience. I hope you took the down-time opportunity to go and do something useful or productive with your lives. :-)

And another new release of phpBB today! Like buses - nothing for months then 2 at once. :-( I'll have to make some time early this week.

No need for coughing old hoss!

The jump from 12->13 is apparently simple. I've not had a proper look at the jump 11->12 yet.

I did look in the database last night when I fixed the sessions problem (by the way, for the record, we were on the receiving end of a rampant googlebot that was struggling to index us. Maybe we need some robots.txt files).

I didn't like what I saw - the pesky word-search table is again eating huge chunks of the overall database size. The guys that designed this didn't have in mind the kind of vocabulary that you guys come out with. The search table is running at about 45Mb. I'm going to start seriously thinking about a little modification to massively increase the exempted words. Common garden words like "computer", "game", "review" - some of these words occur hundreds of times a week in the forum and there's really no point in building up a library of all the posts that use them. The search table is a real pain in the arse, it's tracking words that no sane man would ever search the forum for. :-(

In a few minutes (maybe hours?) the search should be all up to date. There's a couple thousand posts to add because I was lazy, but things should never get more than a week or so behind from now on.

Our last four registered users are all from "USA" and have porn sites as their WWW links. Are we again being Hacked by Chinese?

They're all automated spam-posters... Luckily, they can't seem get past the self-activation, so we're OK for now.

Anyone mind me deleting those users?

Just wait until I get a chance to copy those sites down.

Looks like the forum database is spazzing out. One of the threads I've read is showing unread and a reply I posted in a thread ended up being slotted in before the previous message. Odd. Also I seem to be posting on US time rather than local UK time.

I tried deleting my cookie and starting again but it seems to make no odds.
