Part of streamlining: I've removed the last 20 messages from the post reply screen. We'll see if that speeds things up a bit when loading the post reply.

Let us (and by us I mean me) know if you see any other specific pages/actions that slow things down.

Right now I've noticed that the front page can be very very slow, as can actually posting a new message. If there's anything else speak up.

If just removed something related to search that happens when you post a new message. Searching still works, but anything posted after NOW might not get indexed and show up when you search for things.

Regarding the search thing: that doesn't seem like a good change...

I kind of liked being able to see the last 20 posts, but I can live without it.

Search will end up working properly again... but for the next few days things won't get indexed just to see if it speeds things up. (and so far it seems to be faster on my end when posting)

Ultimately if it turns out to speed things up I'll find a way to get those things indexed and find a better way to search for future. I know I personally think it's better to be able to post/reply at a reasonable speed than to be able to search at a reasonable speed :)

So just try to remember what people posted for the next few days.

Fine, then I'd just like to request that no one post anything noteworthy, important, or memorable over the next few days. Thank you.

Well not that you'll need to search for in the next few days.... if it will only be memorable in a week or so it'll end up indexed... carry on

Is there any way to have it so it just displays the last five posts, or something? That actually came in kind of handy at times, especially for quoting multiple people in the same post.

It's been more than a few days now. Do you think you could turn on the indexing so that searching for posts will once again allow us to find things we've posted recently?

Damn Lob... sorry about that... I missed this post.

I actually brought this up in the Mod forum... I'll try and index the missing stuff this weekend and set up something so that I can do an index of the missing stuff once a week.

I've found things to be a lot faster with the search disabled, it might just be a coincidence, but unless someone has a big problem with things being a week behind in the search I'm going to stick with doing things this way.

Ok, it's just good to know how you intend for this to work. Maybe you can try to index weekly on or around the same day. That way if the search doesn't turn up something I'm relatively sure I posted or saw posted I know I only have to search through posts made after a certain date.

This isn't so much feedback as it is a question.
Let's say "someone" accidentally deleted every PM in their inbox. Is there any way to actually get those messages back? My, um, friend would like to know.

You could ask people that sent PMs to your friend to check their out / sentboxes...

I can't log in, but check your inbox Plut...

You might have LOTS to go through but you should have every private message you received that is still in people's sent boxes.

It smells like privacy infringement in here.
