I'm not sure HOW it happens... but every time someone logs in it stores a unique ID for them (their session ID) so it can know who's who and keep track of threads you've read and so on.

For some reason it was filling up faster than it emptied out, either because of a script kiddy running something, or some glitch in phpbb code that doesn't empty it.

Since I've got access to the backend (what with being a MySQL/PHP whiz, there's little chance I'll fuck it up :) ), I just emptied it out so people could access the site again. Doesn't treat the disease, but stopped the symptom.

Think the cause could have been a post indexing thing? I did that last night.

Hmm... perhaps actually... let me know if next time you (or anyone) runs it if we get that problem. If so I'll just make sure I empty out the sessions table after it runs.

I think we're being indexed by a search engine, and it's annoying. I'll have a look and see if it's time to update the board again (there was a new version released last month, I think). Unforch I'm stupidly busy this week.

You can edit the robots.txt (or I suppose I could) so we don't get indexed.

Feel free to make our lives a little less stressful, and teach me something along the way. :-)

Alright robots.txt put in, should keep all search engines from indexing anything.

Put the random captions back, should be quicker for me or Rob to put them back next time.

I know none of you would, but I didn't want anyone even accidentaly clicking on the spambot posts..

The last thing we want is to show up on some spammer's clickthrough as a potential revenue target.
