He's a bad manager. Well, duh, but he's objectively a bad manager. Like, he's doing everything they tell you not to do in management classes.

And SERIOUSLY! You get bitched out for taking sick leave? Is that even legal?

We don't get sick leave. When I'm out I don't get paid. This is true of 50% of the company, because they are all contractors. And Kleenex is not provided, it's $3 a box at the convenience store. Neither is sanitizer. Strangely enough, people get sick all the damn time.

I finally sat down with my placement agency and we talked. They were happy to hear my side of things and agree that my boss is being unreasonable and that the place is just not well set-up. He said he can't do anything about the way things are, but at least it won't affect my next placement when inevitably I get fired here.

Oh, also my boss constantly says I do great work, which is just fundamentally fucked.

I can't believe this guy manages to keep a team together. Is the economy so bad that people just can't quit from that sorta bullshit? I guess so now, but I hope he realizes that treating your employees like that when the economy is down pretty much guarantees a mass quiting as soon as things see an uptic
In fairness, we've been building 'ground zeros' near Iraqi mosques since March 2003.

I talked to a guy at work about this. He's been there 10 years and this boss hated him for about half of that, apparently. What he told me was that the important thing is to follow-up. You don't actually need to do anything, you just need to ask him later if things are better. Because most of the time he isn't paying attention, so you just need to get him to reinforce to himself that you're good.

Ha ha, my allergies are bad, and I have a cough. So my boss told me to stay home tomorrow, because I was disturbing the people on the phones.

So, two weeks ago, I was taking too much sick time. He couldn't wait a full month before sending me home. Man what the fuck.

I let the placement agency know. I mean seriously.

They finally fired me! And I can't say I'm that unhappy about it.

I got offered a part time job from someone I like working with yesterday, so possibly I will do that for a little bit, depending.

Ha ha, it all sounded like "murfle fumfle moofle groomf" with these lightly rolling R's. It sounded very down-home and quaint, but man, not suitable for passing information.

Got another week-long layoff coming at the end of the month... so much for June being a 5-paycheck month.

Had two more people get laid off this week. One of them was completely unexpected. I'm pretty sure he was a really hard worker but I guess his number was up.

The whole layoff situation kind of reminds me of the joke/parable/anecdote about the fly fishermen in bear country but the bears some to be particularly hungry and fast these days.

Anyhoo.
