If you'd said that last night I probably would've fainted; I was getting really worried about everything happening on one side of my body, but whatever medical dictionary it was bag linked at the start of this thread seems to indicate migraines can cause similar symptoms.

Yeah, a lot of that sounds like what happens to me sometimes. If I get the pain it is usually localized behind the right eye, and sometimes my limbs (usually right side but sometimes all) go numb. And that thing about not being able to understand language anymore and being really unaware of your surroundings has happened to me twice. That kind is pretty scary.

Oh man...I feel one coming on. Pain localized behind my rigtht eye. Not being able to see clearly at times. Numbness in my arms and hands and legs, leading to difficulty walking. Heart pounding. Feeling like I am going to throw up.

This sucks. And tonight is the book club meeting.

You should probably head home before it becomes impossible for you to drive. Or, if it's already nearing that point, have someone give you a ride home.

I worked as long as I could, then I had to have someone take me to Health Services where I slept for a bit. Also, I don't know if I've ever thrown up that much before in my life. At one point, I barely made it to the toilet...there was vomit all over the hand I used to cover my mouth, and when I reached the toilet it got all over the place. I think I lost a pound or two just vomiting, my stomach literally turned inside out. At one point I thought I was vomiting blood until I realized I ate something reddish for lunch today.

Slept some more, then near the end of the day someone who lives in my direction gave me a ride home. My car is still at work, so she will come pick me up in the morning. Came home and slept some more, then when I was feeling a bit better I got up and tried to eat something. Then I watched a movie, Pleasantville. It was rather pleasant.

Man, these things suck. I wonder if I can convince them to postpone the book club meeting.

You should get one of them vasoconstrictor or vasodialator thingies.

One of the girls at work today is laughing because yesterday I vomited egg salad. Egg salad!

I would laugh too, that is of course if you've never eaten egg salad.

I don't think ginger is quite as useful when the nausea is caused by migraines.

Talked to my uncle last night and he said he used to get them pretty bad in high school, so his mom (my grandma) massaged tiger balm into his head every day for a couple weeks, then every other day, then every week, then once a month. He never got them again. Hey, it's wacky, but shit I'm willing to try it! Maybe it'll just end up being an exercise in phrenology, but fake science is better than no science.

Shut up. Come talk to me when you get these sumbitches.

Apparently grandpa used to get them too.

Any that work? Because to be honest, I have heard so many conflicting results that a single first-hand account from someone I trust is enough to send me scrambling to massage ointments into my burning scalp.

Prescription stuff, yeah. Migraines are generally caused by an incorrect flow of blood to the surface of the brain. So they use vasoconstrictors to slow it down if there's too much, and vasodialators to get more blood there if there's not enough. I'd see a doctor about it.

This has probably already been mentioned, but migranes can also be triggered by diet. You may want to look into that.

Might be an infection in your suborbital sinus.
Actually, I'd think it was really cool if I saw Jesus in my icecream too. A tyrannosaur in an F14 would be even cooler.

Were you nauseated? Every migraine I've ever had was characterized by an acute nausea, and vomit is one of the only things that helps to relieve that.
