A very CoTty Christmas

Postby pablo banquo » Sun Jun 21, 2009 12:20 pm

Just been thinking of making up a compilation of everyone's favourite Christmas songs, 2-3 from each person. Doing it now so I could actually get it put together in time to send out to people at Christmas.

I know there are some very cool songs out there, not just talking about carols. ie. humour, rock etc.

Who would be interested in participating in this?

Glad there is some interest in this. I'll try to carry it a bit further once I'm back on solid land.

I'm an atheist. christmas songs are the primary reason.
In fairness, we've been building 'ground zeros' near Iraqi mosques since March 2003.

My nominations are Hang Myself From The Tree & My First Christmas As A Woman both from The Vandals' superb album Oi To The World.

Anti-christmas songs are Christmas songs too.

I don't acknowledge anti christmas songs, or parody christmas songs, or even ironic hipster covers of christmas songs, or carols. Basically, from November to January, I turn off all radios and never venture out of the house without my MP3 player set to an appropriately high volume to drown out any sort of musac or public brodcasting of these abominations. This is especially challenging on ths subway system, which gets invariably clogged with amateur street musicians belting out horrifying renditions of every sort of chistmas song you can imagine, making the underground MBTA stations - already dilapidated, dreary, poorly lit and ventalated warrens - into a very convincing replica of what I've always imagined the christian hell would be.

Oh yeah! Almost forgot about this. Not sure of the best way to get a hold of all of the recommended songs. Suggestions? I'd have you email them but that's obviously not a great option.

Oh right, I forgot about this. Kinda too late to do now.

One song here I liked a lot, not all that Christmassy but I enjoyed it. Make sure to listen right to the end.
